New PU Sniper Rifle

Post by Rowdy1 »

I was up in the White Mountains in NE Arizona and went into a pawn shop and asked if they had any Mosin Nagant's. The guy brings out a box that says Mosin Nagant Hunting Rifle. Inside the box was a Mosin Nagant Sniper rifle. All the numbers matched except the scope. It had been lined out and remembered. On the side of the barrel was where you would find the numbers if it was a sniper besides the serial number on top of the barrel and the cutout for the scope was clean. The scope and scope mount fit perfectly and the scope mount serial number matched the lined out original number of the scope. It's a 1944 Izhevsk manufacture. I'm not sure if it is a real sniper but for $850 I bought it. The gun looked really good and was clean of all gunk. I took out the bolt assembly and the barrel looked good as well. The only problem is I had a great place to shoot but no one stocks 7.62x54r ammo. Off to the range hopefully this week to see how well she performs. Not a lot of fun here in the Valley shooting in 100' degree temps.

No way for us to tell if it is a real PU sniper or a fake without photos. We just can't do it by descriptions. Sometimes it's pretty hard even with photos. But get us a few and we can tell you what you have. There are a lot of fakes out there these days. Makesure you get photos of any of the "import marks" when it was imported. Sometimes that tells us right off that it is real.

Have fun firing it!!

Sounds like a Molot or Tulsky. Probably the Tulsky.
