7.62x54 in Mod 39 with "D" marked B Barrel

I've read through the discussions on 7.62x54 versus x53 but still cannot determine if 7.62x54 is safe to fire in a Finnish Model 39 with D marked B barrel. D being for the accommodation made for the D166 cartridge. My questions are:
1) Is it safe to use x54?
2) Will this B/D barrel not be as accurate with x54 as it would be with x53?
3) If this barrel has always been fired with x53 will it not shoot accurately with x54?
Thanks for any insight.

It's fine. You never know how the rifle will work with various ammo. Trial and error. So far I haven't found one that shoots as bad as I do, with any ammo.

Yes, you can shoot any 7.62x54r round in the M39. I have two b barrel M39's and even the cheap crap commie surplus shoots well in it, both of them. You wouldn't think so given the advanced age, and possibly questionable adherence to spec, but the commie era stuff shoots well in every M39 I own. I can only imagine how well they would shoot using homemade match ammo and good eyes.

Gentleman I sure appreciate it. I'm new to the Mosins and just trying to get more knowledgeable. I like a weapon that is better than I am! With my poorer sight and age I need every advantage I can get.
The one I'm looking at appears to be in really nice condition and the price seems reasonable.
