Recently picked up an empty Yugo M59 crate from a local dealer. There are a few remnants of labels etc on the outside that seem to indicate the crate was originally an AK 47 crate based on the translation of what is still there, along with what I was told is a railroad origin and destination shipment tag. Interesting stuff, at least to me. I also found an inventory list on the inside of the lid, it lists the serial number and the bore condition/dimensions of the carbines that it had contained while in storage in Slovenia. Also the type of preservative used and date of preservation. (Tectyl 502C and April of 2005) Neat stuff you normally don't get to see. I don't think sks crates turn up often, and this one was cheap so I snatched it up.
On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Thats pretty cool. Always wondered what they shipped my Yugo in....
