Christmas day rabbit.

Post by 351mustang65 »

I didn't realise this site had a hunting and fishing forum... Well now that I found it you can expect some post of my adventures.

Here is some pics from my first successful small game hunt since I was a kid with a bb gun.

Set out on Christmas morn determined to get a wabbit dinner. Walked around all morning, followed a few small game trials to no avail. Nothing... Other than a squirrel that jumped out of a tree right next to my face startling me and then running off before I could even think to draw my pistol. Then right when I was head back to the car I see another little game trial and said what the heck so I followed it to some tall grass and as I walked up to it I gave the gass a kick. Boom... What do I see but a little white tail dart off so I follow the rabbit for quite a while though what turns out to be a thorn field until I get what I have to accept as a good enough shot and drop him where he stands.

I seasoned it up then browned in some bacon grease. Once browned I added beer, chicken stock and onions to the pan and finished the braising process over hot coals. Christmas dinner was had and It was great!

Damn, that's a hefty little bugger. Nice knives, btw, always have liked those Old Timers.

Pic of said BB gun?

I've got a 10 year old cross man I blow the wings off of the line wasps and hornets that get caught in my garage and work room. BBs and pellets are cheaper than ammo and if this BB gun adventure of yours continues I may be persuaded to get a better one.

Nice wabbit, now I am hungry.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

The BB gun I used as a kid was a cheap powerline 880 that my young nephew went ahead and destroyed for me... Now the only BB gun I have is one of the old B3 rifles harbor freight use to sell.

The firearm used in this hunt however was the 1964 Ruger standard pictured below. (Sorry for the confusion) I would still use the old BB gun in a heartbeat if I was hunting somewhere I could not use a real firearm.

Yeah I really like the shape of the sharp finger myself and they are about as cheap as you can find now. I added some jimping to the part where your thumb rest (hard to see in pic) and now I like it even more. The rose wood & S30V Bucks not too shabby either though.
