1945 Izhevsk m38
1945 Izhevsk m38
Picked up this 1945 m38 for 299 plus shipping which I was pretty happy with. It has electropencil matching numbers, which is about the only thing I think could be considered a flaw in the rifle. The stock is in good shape and appears to barely have been sanded as cartouches are still visible and the grooves have very sharp edges. It is an m38 stock. It has a non-counterbored mirror bore, and it has a smaller barrel import mark. I am very happy with it.

Excellent find, 1945 is a low production year for the M38 and very hard to find, only the 1939 is more so.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I agree, a most excellent find. While some guys prefer to not have electro-pencil match numbers for the "collection" it is not a problem for me neither because it is part of the history. I still need one. My only non-bayonet carbine in my 91/59.

No difference in electro penciled numbers and re-stamped serial numbers. Both are the same to me. Very nice M38!
(I love carbines).
Yes, it would be better to have all "original" serial numbers on them, but how many of those have you seen in a M38????
Very nice M38!

That is pretty slick. When did the Soviets quit making the '38?

1945 was the last year. It's probably the hardest to find year other than 40 tula.SA1911a1 wrote:That is pretty slick. When did the Soviets quit making the '38?
