They do seem to be forced matched, but what's interesting is no new shellac and blueing appears old.

Thanks for posting that. The video was like opening Christmas presents. It is a shame that they have the large billboards for import marks.

Has anyone checked on the price of the 18 rifles? I am curious about what the end single purchase cost may be.

I just answered my own question. $180.00 plus shipping which probably brings it close to $200.00. That seems a rather steep price for quantity purchase, they will probably have to bring $250.00 at the gun show. I am just too spoiled to be spending $200.00 on grab-bag 91/30s.

Am I the only one who is so cynical as to believe that these rifles are cherry-picked when they come out of the crate for import stamping? If not at the wholesale level.....

It is $1080 per crate of six with a 3 crate minimum. Shipping will be expensive via truck freight.

As a dealer they have to record the serial number off of each and every rifle they bring in to their inventory, and record it as it goes out. That is Federal firearms law, because of this they do in fact know what rifles are in each crate, they have no choice but to look or go to federal prison for failure to record the correct information in a firearms sale. It just pisses me off every time I see offers like this and the seller claims the crates are " unsearched", or " we don't open every crate".

Do the dealers log in each gun based on a actual visual inspection they perform themselves or do they log in what is on the packing list? The way that guy tossed them and banged them around sure looked like the first time he had opened the lid.

As with any seller, take what they state with a grain of salt.

I would assume if they sell a crate they open it to confirm all the serial number, if that crate has mostly "rare" hex Tulas that cost a premium then I'm sure they will grab the next crate and split hat one up to sell the rifles individually.

Only a total idiot would take the word of the paperwork over visually verifying the serial number on a firearm. This is one place were errors just will not do.

Exactly, their business is based on selling firearms and the feds could shut them down for assuming what's on the paperwork is what's in the crates. You can bet they read the serials on every rifle that comes out of those crates. If they don't they're fools. Oh and Russell, glad to see I wasn't the only one cringing while he was haphazardly digging through those rifles.

You know I am in 100% agreement with you but the way you stated it I have now begun to wonder a bit. :?: Bill :?:

You do know years ago that Customs verified all the import numbers from packing lists? :bonk:

Cherry picked? I'm sure they are gone through at some point. But the real question is this; What actually gets picked out? My guess is maybe 2% gets pulled at the wholesalers level. Think about it. If you were in charge wouldn't you grab that unique one of the bunch? A pretty stock, Unique feature or ? It happens; But not very often IMHO.

Fascinating videos. I guess my first impression is that purchasing these rifles is risky. If, in fact, these are non refurbished and "as turned in" as he stated, then even the "nicer" examples may have many skeletons hiding in the closet. In the past PW ARMS (who I think is the importer), had some pretty nice rifles. These remind me of the rifles that Century brought in from Romania. My first thought was bore condition. If non refurbished, the bores could be sewer pipes. My second thought was headspace. My third thought is, what you will see beneath the wood line. In the past, purchasing rifles from these large retail houses was a crap shoot since you really didn't know what you were going to get although they could be reasonably expected to look and perform well. These IMHO takes "crap shoot" to a much higher level, especially for the price. I would be very interested in seeing some of these posted in the future. But, for me, this is a huge PASS. It won't be long until you see many of these listed on GB for $275-$325. This also, for me, redefines the term "buyer beware". Somebody, however, will probably get some very cool prewar rifles. I agree with 1911 though - I'd love to tear into a crate. :2cents:

It has had a refurb done but not a normal common one. No refurb marks on metal or stock, numbers and font match except buttplate due to wearing a wartime stock on a hex. Blue looks original with paint covering rust pitting and the rear sight pin upgrade.
All parts that are marked have the Izhevsk triangle. Bore is nice and is not CB.

You know the last Cossack Dragoon I saw for sale came from one of those pillaged crates.
