Bench rest for zeroing?

I am new to semi-autos and I have a couple (AR, AK) that need zeroing. Which of you uses a bench rest like a Caldwell vs. just using a sandbag set-up to do your accurizing? If you use a rest, which brand/model do you use to accommodate the pistol grip and longer AR/AK magazines?

I just use sandbags (the range provides them), and a short mag. If I had a heavy barrel AR I'd think about getting a rest; I've used a Lead Sled before, they're nice.

I use a sandbag setting on top of an ammo can of M2 ball for my AR's and AK's. Perfect height for me with 20 and 30 round magazines, and the ammo can has enough weight in it that it's doesn't move.

Or do it the military way. Prone. Or sitting at a bench with sling and elbows.
I guarantee that if you zero from a sled and your shooting technique isn't up to it, your groups will never match the zero.

I tend to use my Caldwell lead sled dft when I'm zeroing a scope for the first time or trying out new loads for accuracy potential. My AK and AR both fit as long as I use the 10 round magazines. The 30s just don't fit.
