They are shootable unless you buy a real dog. They were factory refurbished and ready to go to war. They are reliable as hell and more accurate than most who shoot them. Priced under $200.00 at pawns/guns or online on Gunbroker or other auction sites.

Get one while you can. I don't see the prices coming down, and one must remember that ALL surplus is limited, once they're out, that's it off the boats.

We all shoot them. Of course they are shootable. They need to be disassembled and inspected and cleaned, then have the headspace checked and good to go. If you need to know what any of this means we can help you. Welcome to the forum.

They're still quite common. I picked up a nice 1944 Tula hex a few weeks ago for $175 from my LGS in Denver. During the past week I found several for sale at a pawn shop in Sheffield, AL in the $150-$170 range, and then discovered 2 crates of surplus M-N rifles at a sporting goods store in Searcy, AR (mostly Izhevsk but some Tula and a few hex receivers) that were selling in the $190-$220 range. So my advice to you is to scour the local stores, and don't be afraid to look in some of the small and mid-sized towns.

Good luck!
