Sharp EYE for a Russian SKS

Post by martin08 »

On occasion, the importers missed a translation. On the following '54 Tula, Century Arms didn't stop at the usual two Cyrillic letter prefix, and kept translating into the number sequence, mistaking a 3 for an E.

The result was an EYE for an unissued Soviet carbine. And oh, it's rather sharp.

Pics, and thanks for looking.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Daaaaaaang! That is super nice. Look at the deep blue finish how it contrasts with the gorgeous deep red stock.

The wood looks to be light with the color coming from the finish. The brushed strokes lend it a charm that was probably absent in the raw wood.

I have quiet a number of Chinese and Russian SKS carbines and they all seem to work perfectly. They are one of my favorites for a day at the range.

Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!
