personal favorite it your collection?
personal favorite it your collection?
I was showing my collection to someone today and was struck by something strange. My friend asked me if I were to only keep one of my rifles which would it be? My answer surprised me and it didn't take long to answer. My favorite model is the 91/59 and I have a couple of them, but that wasn't my choice. My next favorite model is the 38, then the 44, then the 91/30. I have a pretty fair number of all these models, but my favorite rifle is a plain old '39 Izvesk 91/30. If I were to pick a 91/30, I have a sniper, a couple ex-dragoons, and many more collectible examples, but I picked a plain old non discript 91/30? Is it just me or does anyone else have a sentimental attachment to a specific rifle, that defies any common logic?

Wow, it would be hard to just choose one. I have so many I really enjoy, my favorite to shoot is a m27 but if I only could keep one, it would be my first m39. Its a SK.Y in a straight stock. I love its worn look, its made with old imperial parts and its action feels like butter.

That said, my m1891s, Dragoons, m27s, m28s, m30s, m28/30s, m39s, m44s, m91/30s and m91/59s all hold a place near and dear to my heart in their own way and I don't plan to give any up anytime soon.

I would have to say my Finnish M91 with the relined barrel. Because it is an odd duck.

I've always been a fan of the carbines, to me they're a lot more fun to shoot! I always enjoy seeing the fireball!

1942 Izhevsk 91/30 red letter. Alas, I have no pictures that do it justice tonight. I will tomorrow though. She is my first. I love my M39 to pieces as well, but this 91/30 with the bayonet is a fun rifle.

Kind of hard to pick just one but if I had to choose, I'd say my 1916 Tula Peter The Great m91. Austrian captured and later in the hands of the Finns.

I've got a bad case of Finnitis & the M39 sub strain is pretty virulent so I'm going to have to go with my '43 Sky M39.

The history behind this rifle would be amazing. Two World Wars, issued to three different forces, and that's just what can be documented. I bet this rifle could tell one Hell of a story.

Hands down it's my 1937 Swiss K31. Fun to shoot and the most accurate rifle I have fired.

I honestly couldn't select a single favorite out of my firearm collection. I will say that my favorites are not necessarily the most valuable. If I had to sell off to pay for some catastrophe, there would still be three; my old, worn, 1911, a Winchester single-shot shotgun and a J.C. Higgins single shot .22 would still be left. Unless they are taken from me, those three will be in my home when they take me out feet first, and if my son and daughter don't take good care of them, I will haunt them.
