Three State trek

Post by SA1911a1 »

I did my normal Tri-State area drive yesterday. Probably hit about a dozen shops. I saw two Mosin-Nagant rifles, run of the mill rifles, badly overpriced. They are getting thin in the pawns and gun shops.
At a usual stop in Georgia I picked up two newbies; a really decent 1893/38 Turk and an 1895 Chilean. Because my wife was in the car, I left the Chilean for pickup on my next trip. (it lowers the grief factor) The Turk is matching except for the bolt, which is usual, nice wood, fair bore, built in 1894. After nap time I will try to get some photos if the rains don't start. On Thursday it was in the 20s here, today 75, in this part of Florida you never know what you are getting next.

Tri state area? New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania? It was a balmy 38 here today, at least I didn't freeze as I cleaned up last nights 6" of new snow. The Turks are always fun rifles, I have a hard time walking away from them, the older small ring Mauser's like that Chilean also. While I still have a good supply of 8mm Turk I am running low on 7mm Mauser.

I like it. I wouldn't mind running across one myself.
