I am posting this here as it is the most popular forum.
If you have a Remington 700 you need to be aware of this recall. 7.8 million rifles are involved.

Heard/read about this, thanks. Fortunately, the only Remington I own is my 1917 M91.

If it's broke, I'm glad they're fixing it. But treading lightly on the family featured in the article, firearm safety rule #1 would have kept little Gus alive.

Last Model 700 series I shot was in the service way back in the dark ages! So long ago we shot it out of a cave! Bill

My daughter uses 700 243 for deer hunting that had this problem fixed from when my brother used it. From my research Remington knew of the problem and in my opinion didn't fix it because of corporate greed. Remington had a responsibility to put a safe and properly working rifle out and they didn't knowingly. The people that owned the company when this problem occurred no longer doo. They sold out and walked away scot free they need to be held accountable. putting a gun like this on the market is like making a lawn mower with an exposed blade no matter how careful u are some body is gonna get hurt and its not gonna be pretty

I wonder how they plan to implement the recall... It would be nice if they could just send me a trigger in the mail.

I have several Remington 700's and after receiving the letter from them I was lucky and only had one recall on a 223 rifle. I hardly ever use the rifle or any of them for that matter so the letter got set to the side for the past year. About a month ago I ran across it again and called in. They sent me a return box and a contact once it was ready to be sent. UPS came by the house and picked it up.... Turn around time was to be 12 weeks

but I really didn't care as long as all was covered and made safe. Remington was in touch with me several times by email before ,during and after shipping it back. I had it back in my hands in less than 2 weeks. I had to remove my scope and extras which is no big deal to me, some of my friends took their rifles to our gun smith friend for replacement triggers ( $100 ) rather than remove the scopes.
I'm very pleased with the results.

I did the same with my 308. Send it to Remington, they did their thing and I got it back. All is well and thanks for the heads up sir.

I think I'll pass if I have to send it in... Never had any issue with my 700.
