Another 12 Point For The Ladies!

I've told you all before the ladies here in Louisiana know how to hunt and here's the proof...again. This Buck was just taken about 600 yards from my back door in the field behind my house. It was almost dark and she almost didn't take him because she couldn't see if he had a rack until she used the binoculars. One shot with the .243 Browning semi-auto and he ran about 40 feet or so and dropped. Her daughter had seen this buck on the game camera and they've both been hunting the fields back there as well as a place they have north of here. Last year her daughter got a 12 point up there and she got an 11 point. Well this year she got a 8 point and then tonight this 12 pointer. He's big too by Louisiana standards. They estimate it weighs about 180 but they're taking it to have it weighed and will be entering it in some of the local big buck contests. The rack measured over 18 inches across the center. I was here in the house when she got it and when she came through to go get the truck she saw I had a visitor and decided to call a cousin up the road to come help her load it. Once she got it home I got a call from her "Hey, you want to come over and see the buck I just got?" Then word got out and we had about 8 of us standing around taking pictures and telling hunting stories. I saw more pictures of really nice deer taken in the last few weeks then I have in a while. Even saw a picture of a 65 lb. catfish that was taken in the creek not far from here.

The one picture is of the buck with an 8 point rack laying up against him that she got last weekend. You can see in the one picture how proud she is of this one. Look at the huge smile. Lot to smile about because he's a big 'un!

Not really Chuck. It's not even looked at as something out of the ordinary. Everyone hunts here. Who's ego it was hard on was her daughter's because she's been eyeing this buck for a while now and still hasn't gotten a real big buck yet. That's ok though because now it's on! I'll bet her daughter comes up with one close to this. She's been hunting since bow season started. She's gotten a few but nothing this big....yet! This is the 12 point her daughter got last year.

I am headed for the northeast about 30 miles south of Monroe in a few days. I hope to have some good luck.

Yeah Monroe is about 40 miles south east from me as the crow flies. That's where the Robertsons live and hunt. They were out all weekend but Phil and Si's brother Jimmy Frank passed away from a heart attack this weekend so I suspect duck season will be curtailed for them a bit this year. You'll do fine. There's lots of deer in this state. They don't call it "Sportsman's Paradise" for nothin'!
