My M44 (1945 Ivesh) has trouble ejecting the spent shells. I purchased a newer ejector and that did not seem to help any ideas?

Clean the chamber. This is a common problem. Check the link above marked, "Info pages new", for sticky bolt.

The most likely cause is sticky bolt syndrome, a condition so common that it was given this name. It occurs when traces of grease or cosmoline that have been in the chamber area for so many years that it is not only difficult to clean but also difficult to even see. It imbeds itself into the metal at what seems like a molecular level and multiple cleanings with solvent and heat from shooting it, or by pouring boiling water coupled with cleaning using a 20 GA shotgun brush on a short rod and a slow speed power drill with Hopper #9 will usually do the trick. If it is sticky bolt you want to know first before misdiagnosis leads to unneeded parts replacement.

The shell casings extract from the chamber, they just don't flip out like my 91/30

Weak ejector spring.

Yup... A weak interrupter/ejector spring looks to be the culprit.
It should have some spring force & curvature to apply spring pressure to the ejector; In most cases applying a slight bend to increase pressure works wonders. Do just a bit at a time.
