Hey all, just a few months ago I posted my first Mosin, a 1929 MO Tula 91/30. Well....they keep multiplying like weeds. Here is the current line up, with a 1934 Tikka M27 currently in CA 10 day wait jail. Will post pics of the Finn when I pick it up next week

My bore pictures aren't too great- you get the idea. They are all decent, but not sewer bores. The M27 I'm waiting on is PRISTINE!

First- my 29 Tula 91/30- MO/53 marked, ex dragoon with gap under sight, laminated stock with a circle B stamp (Budapest?). Worn muzzle, but has a buttery smooth action, 5lb trigger and hits 1.5 MOA, although It hits approx 3" above POA @100 yards. Need a taller front sight post.

Second- 31 Tula 91/30 - last of the former dragoons- clearance grinds on barrel and gap under sight. laminated stock, buttery action and okay trigger. Shimmed the reciever and put oiled felt under barrel, went from 4 MOA to 2 MOA. The pic of the target shows 1.5 MOA, which was my best group of the day. Most were 2. Hits POA dead on, had a blast busting clays consistently at 100-150 yards. Very consistent accurate (for iron sights) rifle. Still needs a little trigger finesse. Shows slight cleaning rod wear on muzzle.

Third- 43 Izhevsk M38- correct M38 wartime stock with no rear sling escutcheon and stamped escutcheon on front. Counter bored, hits approx 4 MOA and is very fun to plink with. Had to do some bolt filing and polishing on bolt body, cocking piece and firing pin to cure very clunky bolt, now as smooth as my 91/30's. Very nice.

All targets shot with 147gr commie surplus.

Enjoy

  Good looking rifles are really nice looking groups too! Congratulations on the M27, the wait for them to finally get let out of jail is painful! I've got an M27 heading my way as well and I'm just not that good at being patient!

Thanks guys. All shooting was done out in the desert with a pickup tailgate bench and folding chair :D.

I'm still not satisfied with the 31's trigger. That rifle has the most promise for accuracy so far, until I get spoiled with that M27 :D

Excellent looking rifles, and amazing shooting. Enjoyed your write up about them. I have yet to find a Mosin carbine of any kind. Not in my 3 sporting goods stores or the two Cabelas that I visit. I'm still on the hunt for one. Lol

Frosty- thanks for the compliments. The chain stores used to carry carbines, but they have dried up. The Big 5 I bought the two 91/30's from said they were the last they had and they wouldn't carry more (maybe it's that particular store). I went into a local shop to handle an internet purchase and they had the M38 on the rack for $219. The owner noticed my knowledge of milsurps, went into the back and pulled out the M27. He also had a bring back M44 that wasnt refurbed and had no import marks, but it was on layaway :( Look in smaller shops, and call around. Never know what you might find!

Thanks guys. I have noticed through my tinkering that trigger work is one of the best things you can do to these. Of course you can do more from there, but a trigger in the 5lb area and a sturdy rest and you'll have lots of fun.

Oh yeah, the 1981 turbo Trans Am. I remember them well. I graduated high school in 1980 & the Pontiac dealer was less than a mile away. Had the hood with the raised tunnel on driver side with the boost light in the hood. Oh wait, we are talking about Mosins here. You do have some nice ones and your speech and interest in precision shooting is encouraging.
