Nasty old Nagant

When Nagants were under $100.00, and before I found out about Mosin-Nagants, I bought one of these. It was a wartime revolver with a big banner and I thought it was the worst firearm I ever owned. I played with it for a month or so and sold it for what I bought it for and was happy to see it gone.

In the past year, I regretted getting rid of the Nagant and started looking for another. I was shocked at what folks wanted for them now and I pretty much decided I would not get another one. Low and behold, on a Mosin-Trek, I found this one wasting away in a shady pawn shop (and I am not talking about trees). The owner thought it was a Russian gun, maybe a Mosin-Nagant, but they weren't sure. They had decided that it was not a .38, but had no idea what caliber it was.

This revolver looks like it laid on one side in the damp for a long time. It is not import marked and obviously not refurbished, but is all matching and has a pretty fair bore for a hundred year old Rusty Ruskie. The lanyard ring is missing, broken off, and one grip is cracked, so I got a reasonable discount. It is a double action. I am sure the owner thought I was crazy for paying $150.00 for the thing. (he may have been right) I keep going to the safe for this one as I feel like it has something to say to me.

Set on it's side all right, probably next to a corpse, that one looks like it has a body of two on it :)

Great find. I have 2 of these revolvers and yours just yelled some nasty things in Russian about my 2 kids.

Even though the price is higher than it once was, you did good, as the non refurb Nagants often go for double the refurb prices or more. I like it.

It's only 99 years old. Just imagine what it would look like if it really was 100?

And if you have been out of the Nagant market for a few years, they have taken a big rise in price - especially the non refurbished examples. You did quite well at $150.

I paid the same for my 1944 Izhevsk refurb. Mine looks like a new gun, yours looks like it has done some living, I like yours far better. That is a very cool roll mark.

Glad to hear you filled that hole you felt in your collection. I love these revolvers. I don't need more of them. But they sure are hard for me to pass on when I do see them.
:bravo: :bravo:
