the sks has been one of my favorite Semi autos for a long time. Ive had four all together. two Russians and two Yugo's. I am down to just one Yugo right now. I am afraid to say I have it in a adjustable stock but this was before I knew better lol. I do have the original stock and will probably put it back on :D before I post a pic. Its amazing how high these guns are going for now :big shock: if I knew that 15 years ago I would have never got rid of my other ones but you live and learn :toast: :toast:

How high? I bought a brand new Yugo years back and it's still packed with cosmoline and unfired, I have other SKS rifles so I will probably leave it that way.

In my short time collecting, I have seen them go up quite a bit. I've wanted a Yugo SKS for years. They just look cool. Then when I seen Millmans Russian SKS it made me want one even more. Still no SKS I was proud to find my Czech VZ52. It's really a neat rifle. Maybe one day I will run out and get started on them, before it's too late.

I like the Yugo models too. There have been some going around with worn bluing and nice but used looking, dark wood. This is the one I want to find for myself.

If you like the Yugo you should try a few other nationalities. My favorite is the chinese para sks. There were lots of Chinese sks imported and many were not in the best of condition. So be sure you get one that is not too battle weary. Also there are severl versions of commercial sks available. Such as the model "M" and "D" along with the type 84 and many incarnations by Navy arms. The Rusians are the cream of the crop. Its hard to beat the original. The Romanians are the next best in quality to the Russians. But again, many were imported in battle weary condition. It is difficult to find a Romanian in all matching condition. When you do -BUY IT!
The Albanians command a permium due to their rarity. But having one in the collection is a must. They also make fine shooters and IMO are the best balanced of all the available sks. Among these nationalaties there are some dates and varieties that are more valuable than others. Ask in the SKS sub forum and I will try and answer any questions about the sks.

Used to have a Chinese SKS. Worst gun mistake I ever made was selling that thing. I miss it. :vsad: If I had known in 1998 what I know now, I'd have bought a whole storage unit full. I remember seeing them for $89 and thinking for that cheap it must suck. :bang: Oh the folly of youth. :redfaced:

And if I recall correctly, there was some cheap junky bolt action Russian rifles on the same tables.

Yea, looks just like my unissued Yugo. Wait a minute, there was a Greek SKS? Don't make me go look it up! I already have the Egyptian SKS.

Love the SKS, I too can't believe how fast they jumped up when the last election was getting
started. In my few years in this madness it seems that I recall $159 just a few years ago, now look at them.

I don't think these rifles get enough credit for accuracy. I have an older M59 that is not a safe queen, and it is astonishing what it will do
for me.

On the Rasheed? No, I don't think any of them were issued with one, not sure what the wood is. The rifle has had one problem after another, there were busted parts when I got it. This is an example of why you don't buy firearms for other people. Friend was in the army and going to Germany 16 years ago and heard about the rifle being sold by some poor sad sack getting divorced. He wanted it bad, but had no money or time, begged me to get it for him, finally I got tired of listening to the whining, and crying so I bought it for $300, a price I felt was highway robbery at the time, but what the hell it wasn't my money right? Wrong, asshole knocks up his girlfriend while over there, goes to live with her family in Colorado when he comes home, and guess who ends up stuck with the $300 busted rifle? The slide had a chip out of the rail, and a small arm coming off the trigger group ( I am having a senior moment remembering it's name) was also busted. I replaced the arm, and most recently the slide, now the gas adjuster is stuck, the next project now that I have a wrench for it, one day I might even fire it. They sell for $700 and up these days so at least if I chose to sell it I wouldn't lose money, but I will retain it as a reminder of what happens when you do stupid things.
Just a small Hakim after all, and we all know what a finicky pain in the ass the Hakim is when it comes to ammo.

No, It just occurred to me, the Egyptians made the AK rifle, I have one, but I never thought to ask if they also made the SKS. I always just call the Rasheed the Egyptian SKS because when I say Rasheed to most people I get a blank stare in return or they say gazuntite. Did the Egyptians make an SKS?

Egypt never made an SKS. What is being refered to as an Egyptian sks is in fact a Chinese T26 sks dated in the late 1970's early 1980's. China made these for Egypt. They have Chinese laminate stocks, Black bolts. They will have a stock that has both a cutout for a blade and a spike. It is just another variety Chinese available to a collector.
