Mossberg 46B-B

Post by Longcolt44 »

This came in to the shop last Thursday and I had to buy it. These early Mossbergs, M46B, 1946-47 and M46M, 1948-52 are some of the best target rifles Mossberg ever made. These Models were also made for the military to use in competition, the military models are marked like this except they also are marked US PROPERTY. I have had a Model 46M (b), for about five years and it is my best rimfire rifle. I can't wait to get this one to the range to see if it can be even better than it's older brother. Along with the Mossberg S-130 swing away rear micrometer peep sight this also has what they call a sporting peep sight on the barrel. I have also shown some of the ads that were circulated to sell these rifles. NOTE: Prices higher West of the Rockies. More pictures to follow in next post.

Page two of pictures. They also make a 16" 4 power 3/4" scope that I am hot on the trail for.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Tube feed bolt actions. I love them. If I had the chance I would be all over that!

I love the old Mossbergs. I have a Western Field 497A, essentially a 44. Skipper has lost 3 magazines for it, they aren't cheap, about $40 a pop.

That looks like a 46B with a 46M front sight which would be correct.

From what you have posted these are pretty accurate rifles too bad I just bought the handgun, I'd go and look at it. But looking at it is a bad idea, I'll want to buy it. Oh well maybe later.
