I know nothing about these rifles but will be watching to see what members who do know have to say.
This part written kind of jumps out at me....

" Now PLEASE don't waste your time and mine by emailing me to tell me how rare Finn Snipers are or that this is a "made up gun", because YES I know. It is not an original Sniper and you are not buying an original Sniper. It's a shooter and it shoots like all get out. If you are shopping for a museum piece this is NOT it."

I smell the smelly smell of something that smells like Bullshit in this one. I would need a signed affidavit from the original Finnish arsenal that made it, hand delivered by the original Finnish arsenal armorer who built it, stating that this was a 100% legit build produced by the Finnish government for use by the Finnish army. The seller knows it's bullshit but hopes that fact will get lost in the description and sellers will not look past the auction title. Save your money, go to R guns and but a real Soviet refurbished PU sniper. Whoever built this f***in abortion out of what looks to have been a clean M39 should be publically caned then have the cane shoved up his ass.

It's not even one of the nice Century build "snipers" from the 90s. It's somebody's home job. Bold handle looks like poops

:2cents: I believe its a FAKE. The few M39's the I have seen made into Snipers used a different mounting system and scope. :2cents: While far from an expert, I do know a bit about M39's and never found one with the 91/30 type side mount.

All they did was heat it up and bend it over. Shit work done with repro parts. The mount is definitely repro and the scope looks to be too. I like this part. "I do not believe there are any known examples of Finnish M39 Snipers in the US. They DO exist but are super rare. This is the closest thing you will probably ever see unless you build your own. I did not build this one but I like that someone did. This is a fun gun for military matches and will get alot of attention." Now I've never shot in any military matches but do they allow humped up reproductions to be used?

I "jumped in" without readingeverything in the original ad. It is a fake. Ok. As for shooting it in a match......WHY?. Hell a pure M-39 with good ammo is likely to be a contender right out of the box....... :shifty: :shifty:

:no2: If I want a scope on an M39 (and I don't) I would just put a Daryl's Mount & high-quality long eye relief scope on it. Way better optics than a vintage PU scope & I didn't butcher a perfectly good M39. Notice all those bids!!! A popular & much sought after firearm.

What is the reasoning for this rule out of curiousity? Like if I wanted an expert opinion on whether or not I wanted to spend a bunch of money on something and if it was real or not this would be my most trusted place to come for opinions I'd think.

The PM system here is the best avenue to ask questions about an ongoing auction. There's a bunch of old horse traders here with a lot of knowledge about milsurps that would be happy to give you info via private message.
By posting a live or ongoing auction you open the eyes of dozens of bidders that might not have seen or found said auction. :2cents:

If I am bidding on a auction I want the best price I can get and if someone unknowingly posts the link or discusses it in a way on open forum that makes it easy to find and runs the bids up then naturally I get ticked off, or any of you guys same thing.

The problem is you might get opinions from those trusted people but they aren't the only ones looking at this site. There's lots of people lurking here, not signed in that will check out that live auction and buy it out from under you. It's 1am CST as I type this and this is at the bottom of the page. "WHO IS ONLINE
Users browsing this forum: Biggsio47, Bing [Bot], clayshooter2, Google [Bot], kworm99, lthilsdorf, njragan56, rwood1978, WeldonHunter, Yahoo [Bot] and 6 guests" There's 6 "guests" (unregistered or unsigned in) and 6 other people (signed in) besides me in this thread reading it. Oh but wait. See those others? Bing [Bot], Google [Bot] and Yahoo [Bot]? Those three are the worst of them all. There may be 12 people reading this thread as I type this but since this post was first started those three [Bots] have been taking screenshots every time someone posts from the very first one including the link to the live auction. So when someone using one of those search engines types in terms that this thread's criteria meets millions of people can come to this thread and find that live link and also buy it out from under you.

Yep, the entire world is watching, most of it may not care, but all it takes is one to steal that rifle right out from under you.

Makes sense. I kind of realized after posting too that if I was looking at an auction why would I alert the biggest collector base around.

Damn!! I went to see what the fuss was all about. Something was very wrong with this listing. Not only did GB take it down they erased the item number too.

I saw another one on Armslist a few months back. It looked BETTER than brand new. The individual said he got it from an old WWII vet who collects nothing but snipers. It was claimed to be a "bring back"!!!! That was the first alarm bell..........I have never read anywhere where U.S. forces ever engaged Finn forces, or occupied their territory. Like i said, it was better than new.........it even had a "BLUED" bolt :chuckles: The pics showed NO wear anywhere. After contacting the individual for specifics, I did a web search and found all the components needed for such a system in under two minutes. It looked nice....it would probably be fun to shoot.........but you would never get anything for it other than what everything cost to assemble.

Speaking of fakes......while "window shopping" Finn items for my collection, I ran across a German dude who makes "SA" stamp tools.............watch out!
