My M44 surprise
My M44 surprise
Today was my first outing since I got out of the hospital last week. So, I started visiting the local pawn shops. To my surprise, my favorite shop had an M44. I was just looking and was not planning to buy anything today. How ever, the money I had in my back pocket started biting my butt to get out. I picked it up for $150.00 out the door. As you can see it is a 1948. I haven't found the import marks. Any tell me where it is?

That's a real beauty at a great price.
Look on the sides or bottom of the barrel between the front sight and the bayonet mounting ring. It looks to be a Century (C.A.I.). You also have a DDR which is unusual for these M-44's. Great find!! Doesn't look like a Ukrainian refurb either. Wonderful stock.
By the way the "OOK" on the shank is a rough translation of the prefix on the Russian s/n.

Man, you got a real great deal on that one. Fantastic looking metal and wood on that one!

Sweet.
The translation and the placing of the number on the receiver is an import mark of sorts but I am betting it is on the barrel by the front sight

Wow, you got a real nice one, and in case you don't know what qz means by DDR it means it is a E. German rifle as identified by the triangle with a 1 inside. Very excellent, and a super deal at 150.00, perhaps close to half price.

Since it has the transliteration and serial on the side I'm sure there is an import mark on it somewhere. Nice one.
