Front sights

Howdy,
I made my intro in the new member post forum first

and I'd like to ask the community for some help.
I own a 1939 Izhevsk round receiver Mosin and I am having problems with sighting in the firearm at 100 yards. I do not have the bayonet attached.
My rear sight is at "1" and I am shooting way low...I know this is stupid but if I am shooting low I would file down the front post to raise the POI up?
Any replies would be great, thank you.

Try moving the rear sight to 2 first.

The official Russian manual says to sight it in at 100 meters with the rear sight set on the "3". Try it, you may be surprised at the results. To answer your first main question--yes, if the rifle is shooting low you need to file the front sight lower. The REAR sight is moved in the direction you want to move the POI. The FRONT sight is moved opposite of the direction you want to move the POI (POI=point of impact).

Any suggestions for sighting in at 1oo yards vs meters?
Sounds like I'd be at 67 meters, so it could go up or down 1, depending on if the bullet has reached the peak of it's trajectory?

You'd be at 91.44 meters at 100 yards. Negligible difference.
