winchester 67 or 67a

Post by Buckhead »

:?: :vconfused:
A couple of weeks ago I posted about an old hacked up old .22 rifle I picked up and was thinking about making a pistil out of, until I found out that would be illegal.
So I threw away the cut down barrel and decided to look for a good barrel. They want a lot for the old barrel on Gunbrokers so I want to make sure I get the right one.
I have a mod 67a and the bolt from the old cut down one won't fully engage in the 67a. The bolts look the same, they are the length and all.
Oh by the way there were no markings on the old gun to tell if it was a 67 or 67a some Bubba brazed a makeshift scope mount on it. :big shock:

Post over at rimfire central. They should be able to tell you something. They have a Winchester specific forum.
Nevermind. I saw your post there. Good luck.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

It may be a lost cause by the time you pay for parts, pay a Smith to install and headspace the barrel, and safety check everything, especially when you can find these old single shots in mint condition at a reasonable price. How is the stock on it? How did the barrel come off of it? Was it threaded?

Barrel was cut down to 12" stock was cut down to about 8"at the but. I picked it up for 10$ and figured it would be good for parts.

I have found the guys at RFC to be good people. Lots of questions answered, and 2 or 3 deals with nary a hitch.

I know it is kind of like this forum. I like most of the people over there but there are a couple of them that like to pick at others and start arguments.
I don't ever see that over here.
I belong to an El Camino forum that has a great bunch of people that is much like this. They will do any thing they can to help with what ever they can.
Only thing different is it is a Classic car forum and not a gun forum and some times some of us get together at car shows.
