Gambled on a Finn

I was out and about today visiting a few area shops in search of goodies to bring home. Had struck out so decided to visit a place I'd heard about but never been in. A little out of my "range" but thought, "what the heck"'. Very small place, out of the way. My living room and kitchen are bigger than the shop. Mostly sporting arms with a few mil-surps, Enfields, Mausers, and refurbed Mosins. Looking around and spied sitting in a corner behind some boxes and other junk what looked to be a Finn M91. :o Asked to look at it and saw a M39  behind it so asked to look at it also. Both were filthy dirty, covered in cobwebs, and a little rust. :vsad: Thought about it and I knew both were going to be mine if the price was right. Talked with the owner, nice guy, said they came out of an estate this past week and were part of an all or nothing deal. Anyway, we settled on a price, I had enough cash and trade to bring the M91 home and put a healthy down payment on the M39. Anyway, the M91 is a 1942 VKT. Haven't got it apart yet so don't know the receiver date. Details on the M39 are going to have to wait until I bring it home, hopefully I get back over next weekend. Now a few quick pics.

What is that I spy on the rear sight leaf?

Did run a wet patch through the bore, looks promising so far.

Very well done indeed!!!! Not like theses guys that walk away scratching their heads saying should I or shouldn't I? Sometimes you screw up but then if you do nothing you for sure screwed up! Looking forward to the M39 pictures and I am sure you are looking forward to getting it too. Glad the owner of the shop was willing to work with you, most are but it seems many people on here are too dumb or something to ask? When you come right down to it money we have or don't have is only passing through our hands so why not get something you want with it? Congrats again! Bill :D

Thanks guys! I think my gamble paid off. Got it apart right now and it almost looks like the previous owner wiped off the outside then stuck it in the back of the closet. Internal parts all have a good coating of that black grease the Finns used, everything under the wood and inside looks almost brand new as does the bore. Bottom of tang has no marks and doesn't look scrubbed, so we'll see what I can find elsewhere as far as original builder.
Also once I got the action screws out (front one was seized) I found about a handfull of sand under the wood and more than a few pine needles, same type I've found in a few other Finns. This rifle hasn't been apart since before it was sent back into the arsenal the last time.
Now to get it back together. Hopefully I can it done in time to fire a few rounds before dark, unless the weather keeps getting worse.

Yeah, I've learned my lesson, took a few screw ups but it finally sank into my thick skull! My attitude about money is as long as the bills are paid and there's food on the table, then I should be entitled to enjoy what's left. I work hard and earned every penny of it.
