Let's see your favorite

Post by sheepdog »

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a handgun freak but the Luger Boards, the S.W. Forum (I was modslapped the first week there) and Ruger.com are a bunch of snobs so I gravitate towards places with friendlier folks.

I see no posts in this section for a couple of days so lets charge things up or try to.

SHOW US YOUR BABY or BABIES HANDGUN WISE.......you know the one you would run into the burning house to save.

1972 (1st year of issue) Model 66 S&W with rare stainless sights. Unbelievable trigger, like satin so smooth.

1916 DWM Luger, all matching numbers, with 1937 holster, WWII magazines, some 1944 issue ammo. This one my dad left me.

Man, I can only play pretend for the time being. I applied for my permit last Friday and the State's computer was down. I told them I was in no hurry and to just mail it it me. I wasn't thinking that with the Holiday, they may back up...anyway, I don't have it yet. But, I found the twin brother to this Ruger at a pawn shop. It will be my first ever handgun purchase. For the price right around a basic 91/30, I am pretty excited to get it:

You all have some nice ones! I have been a fan of the Luger since I was a child. That S&W is gorgeous too!

I take it this is the Luger that caused MOMMA to cut you off of guns for 9 months over. :)

Purchase Permit. Omaha has its own set of gun laws aside from Nebraska. Here, in the city, if you want to buy a handgun, you have to get a Purchase Permit from the Sheriff. Once you have it, you are allowed to go "buy" a handgun. But, once you fork over the cash, the store gives you a receipt and a document. You then have to take that document to the local Police Headquarters and have the gun registered. You can then go back, show the document and pick up the firearm. There is the initial background check when you get the permit. There are two seperate background checks when you buy and register the gun. The good news is, once you have the Permit, you can purchase long guns without the extra hassle of having it called in. Today, if I buy a long gun, I have to wait 20 minutes or so while they call in a background check.

I know most areas have the Purchase Permit requirement, but the city itself here gets pretty involved too. Its why I haven't bought a handgun yet lol.

We have those too or you can get your Concealed Carry. I may have to go get mine, since it speeds up the process of buying rifles as well. 8-) Sorry I can't play with the Pistols. All I have is 3 Nagants and a Yugo M57

Piss on that mess!! I walk in, point to the one I want, fill out a 1 minute form, wait for the shop to make a 2 minute phone call, plop down the dosh and aforementioned gun is mine. God I love Oklahoma!!

I told Jumper about the same hassle recently in a PM. But, I concluded it with...or you can go down to the street corner after 3 am and pay $100 cash, no questions asked lol.

The rules are pretty tough here, but over-all, its a decent city. I feel much better about it now that I have found a couple of outdoor ranges

Arizona, instant background checks or with a CCW the state has your prints, no background check with a CCW so fill out the paperwork and your good to go. I believe the state has firearm preemption laws that keep individual cities and counties from passing firearm laws, only the state can do that.

+1 With a CCW here, they don't even make the call. At my favorite place you can also buy a case of beer and a country ham sandwich in the same transaction.

I don't have a bunch of handguns, but of what I do have, this Steyr M1911 would have to be my favorite. It is a pre military contract commercial model, made in 1912. It is a good shooter.
