My collection of 1944's has grown by 1 more, and it's one that I have never seen before, a 1944 Izhevsk M38 Yugoslavian refurb. I have to admit I looked high and low on the web trying to find another while I waited for the auction to close but have had no luck in finding any so I guess they didn't do many.
It's in a wartime M44 stock, or at least that is what the stock is now since the bayo groove looks like it was carved with a butter knife. It is forced matched full of cosmoline under the wood line, but has a pristine bore. It will make a great addition to my collection of 44's ( as well as my other Yugo refurbs)

Nice one MT. Those TRZ's are always interesting. I just have the M44. I'd like to find a carbine with the Bosnian shield like you had in your group photo. I have a M48 with Bosnian carved up with stock marks. I spent 8 months there so I find anything connected to there pretty cool.

Trinity had a Romanian M44 with the Bosnian Sheild for sale about a year ago, don't know if they ever sold it. I will keep my eyes open and let you know if I find one for sale.

This is cool, but honestly I can't even process all it's coolness, so I am gonna look it over a bit, study it up a bit more, and then check back. Definitely looks like a great showcase candidate!!:P

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I'll play the nubie, what does TRZ stand for?
Yugoslavian 1 Tehnicki Remontni Zavod ("1" stands for Cacak, Serbia and the "TRZ" translates to "technical repair facility") and is stamped 1TRZ on the butstock. Copied from an earlier MT post.

On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.
I looked it over carefully and can give it the thumbs up for showcase.

Miller, if you ever sell that boat the rest of us will have no chance of ever finding anything in the wild. Between you and Martin, the only time there is anything left for the rest of us to buy is in the summer when you are spending your money on the boat.
