Thanks Rongo! New 10/22

Post by ponycarman »

Saw a post from rongo earlier about walmart marking down their stuff 20%. Had to go take a look and this is was I walked away with.

Ruger 10/22. Nice too. Good quality and nice wood stock. Should be a fun little rifle. Price was $200 even after the discount. Not a bad buy :)

Sorry the pics aren't the greatest .

Now the purchase was another story. Overall it went fine but the associate couldn't get the trigger lock off. Tried and tried and it got to the point I was concerned something was going to go wrong and my rifle would be scratched up pretty bad. So after we had been waiting quite a while I told them to just leave it and I would get it off myself. Took me about 30 seconds at home to get it off lol. Very interesting buy

Did they have to carry it out of the store for you? I bought my daughter one of those little pink Cricket rifles at Wally world, and the manager had to escort me off of the premises. He carried it, and gave it to me once we were outside. The funny thing was I had a NAA Mini in my front pocket and a .40 S&W in my waistband. Silly, I thought.

Yep. Walked us out the door. Had my ruger 357 mag on me lol. Even funnier, I offered to remove the lock in the store for them but was told I wasn't aloud to touch it during the transaction. Even though I had it in my paws looking it over not 10 minutes before I told them I wanted to buy it

Last time I bought from walmart the manager walked me to my car and put it in the trunk lol. Academy walks you out too.

I was surprised when you posted it because I was in there last night giving their guns a good look through but never saw the sign for the sale lol. Thanks again!

Nice score pony. Ya the walking out part while having a CHL is pretty lame especially when you show it to them to speed up the buy. I had a trigger lock on a Marlin I couldn't get off, was bending the key. Just drilled through the lock in no time and it was off.

Yeah the walking out part doesn't really bother me. Dumb yes, but thats their policy. The lock was easy to get off. I didn't have the key. Neither did the walmart associate lol. A coule raps with a hammer and punch spun it off. Drilling it out was my next option.

Yeah they called a few extra people over to try. I believe the fellow that would have known what to do had already left for the night. No problem though. I would rather work on it myself then to possible have someone slip and scratch something up. At least if I messed up it was my fault. All it all it was better than my last purchase there. The lock was the only speed bump. Last time it took at least an hour to get a manager over to approve everything lol.

You got a nice deal there on a great rifle. These things are forever hungry and love bricks of ammo. Finding the ammo seems to be a bit of trouble lately.

Yeah finding 22lr is challenging here as well. The associate at walmart was even trying to talk me out of it because of the ammo lol. Luckily I've already got a little saved up. Just got to find some to put back what I've been shooting.

Also if 200 doesn't sound like it was that good of a deal, that was after taxes. Before tax the rifle was about 188.

I'm amazed no one else jumped on this 20% off sale. $200 OTD on a 10/22 is a hellofa deal.

Thats what I thought as well. They looked like they had sold a good many of other stuff that day too. I went back the next day to see if anything else interesting was put out but no luck. Still pretty bare. Thats ok though. This wasn't really a planned purchase anywho and I had been wanting to get a 10/22 for myself.

Anyone have a 10/22 they have modified? How does it shoot? Also if anyone has swapped barrels out, how much extra weight does a target style bull barrels add?

Hey Ron, my Walmart had no mention of 20% off, but Saturday I saw a nice Marlin stainless model 60 in a laminated stock. Seems like it was about 220.00?

Also Ron, what do you think about the Remington model 887 nitro home defense model shotgun in 12 ga? That rascal looked nice. All the metal is covered in nylon plastic.

My walmart didn't really advertise it either. Just some tiny signs printed out and hung on the gun rack. The first day I was there I never saw them lol. The prices were all labeled the same and the discount was taken off during the sale. At least that was how my local store did it. This rifle was originally priced at $234.

These are more accurate than I was giving them credit for. Shot it today with a variety of cheap ammo. It functioned perfect and we were hitting spent shotgun shells and shooting the centers out of target clays at 20-30 yards. The front sight was a little tough to see with the overcast day we had though.

I don't like it. See if they have one of those Tr-Star semi-auto 12ga in stock... $329. That one I like.
