Went Yard sailing this weekend. I went up to my place up in Okeechobee Florida to do some work on the yard and house. My wife stayed home to get ready for our
trip to North Carolina. On my way up I hit a few yard sales and came across this sweet Remington Mod 511 Scoremaster made in 1949 judging by the code on the left side of the receiver LUU which making it 1949. But there is a number on the right side of the receiver that is y47 that I don,t know what it stands for. The seller said it was his Grandfathers and has been in the family forever. I could not believe the shape it is in, The bluing is perfect I would say 99% and has never been re blued The stock has some minor scratches but nothing major. I put a little lemon oil on it and it looks great. The owned said he knows it has not been fired in 45 years or more. He said he is not a gun guy and he found it in a the Attic of his grandfathers house in an old cabinet that they wanted to get rid of. He remembered the gun but never knew what happened to it till now. He asked if I knew what it was worth. I said I had no idea, nor did I know anything about that model. He asked if I would give him $150.00 for it. It was in such good shape I just couldn't walk away with out it. I still don't know anything about it other then the year it was made or if I over paid for it but I wanted it and my wife wasent there so what the heck. I will send some pictures soon as I can .
