I thought you meant Mosin Nagant (MN) deer season! Any meat in the freezer is a plus. I'm sitting out the centerfire portion of the hunt this year, I'm shooting like crap with everything but my M44 for some reason and don't feel like lugging that one around and competing with every Tom, Dick and Harry. There's a nice spot at a conservation area closer to home where no centerfire is allowed so it only gets the alternative method hunters, and pretty much all of those go to their regular places for that portion as well. I'm shooting better with my .50 inline than any of my other rifles oddly enough and worked up a load/bullet combo that is really working well.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
