Never going to Florida, ever!!

Post by Longcolt44 »

I know this should be in the off topic section but it needed to be seen by all the membership. Most of you know how much I hate snakes, I don't like little brown snakes or big green snakes. This snake is in a class of its own and might just take, Baby", my H&R 10 gauge with 3 1/2" magnums to kill about 5 feet at a shot.. This is not photoshopped. This is what was spotted on Okeechobee extension west of the Turnpike in Ft.Pierce a hour ago....at least 20ft. I can not see anything that could make me go to Florida :big shock: :big shock:

Coooooooool  Did they try to catch it? I bet that would be worth good money to a zoo, or snake collector. What is it anyway? One of the South American snakes? My neighbor was just asking me to ID a tiny rattlesnake she noticed sunning itself on the stone wall outside earlier today, if she saw that huge snake it would be massive heart attack time.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

From my limited knowledge of these slimey, sneaky bastards I am thinking it is an Anaconda the outgrew it cuteness and was let out to roam. Big snakes with little brained owners are a problem everywhere. It ain't cute.

I could be wrong but I don't think Anacondas would raise their heads like that.
No idea, never met one, but it would make it easier to get a rope around it's head.

Back when I was a kid I wanted to be a Herpetologist (study of snakes & reptiles)... Been around all kinds of vipers and a couple different species of constrictors. I can't really tell if that's an anaconda or not, if it isn't it's a damn big python or boa, but my first thought was "Oh hell no"! But I gotta ask, did you take that picture? Reason I ask is that the girth looks a little unrealistically narrow, the head doesn't look that similar to an anaconda, and it's not quite as angular as a boa's or a python. And while they can swallow prey considerably bigger around than they are, that thing looks like it might struggle choking down a small to midsized dog.
I dunno, I don't think I'd want tangle with it, whatever it is...

Rabbits and small kids probably, they are a real problem in South America where kids are on the menu, just ask a customer of mine who is from Brazil, he would shit his pants if he saw that thing.

Well your friend is far braver than me. Something that big, I think I'd give it the right of way by about 50 or 60 miles... The thing that scares me about constrictors is that they're ungodly strong.
