Let's play guess the ammo

Post by cleanneon98 »

I got this case a long while back. No idea where it's from or what it is. Head stamp only at 12 o clock and reads "88"

Any ideas? Label inside reads in Romanian I believe but I can't link it to anything. Even the master list on 7.62.net doesn't have it

I know what caliber it is because I shoot the stuff. I just don't know about the ammo. Like how many grs it is, etc.

Single headstamp only, I checked a bunch of rounds in a few different packs and they're all the same. Could it be Romanian? There was a warning sheet of sorts on the lid when it was opened which translated to Romanian. I tried to google some of the words on the front of the crate but no luck

The Naftenata stamp on the crate translates into Bulgarian & or Slovenian/Hungarian. Also, I recall having some of this on hand with the 88 stamp on it. The only other 88 headstamp ammo out there is Chinese IIRC.

Light Ball 147grn ammo & it's not bad stuff. If anyone out there has a better answer have at it.

ok, if I had to guess, I'm going to go with: Something that would look better in my ammo box?
