Romanian TTC Tokarev Pistol

Just doing a little fact finding mission. Does anyone have a Romanian TTC Tokarev? I just noticed that they are C&R listed and several online dealers have them. I have read some good things about the pistol and the 7.62x25 round, although it sounds like a hot little round. I was also curious about the aftermarket safety that has been installed on these for compliance and whether or not this causes any functioning problems. So, any opinions or experience with these...good or bad?

One of the better handguns I have had and shot. I used it as a carry oiece for a while. Saftey, a joke, I carried it at 1/2 cock.

I'd like to have one. I know, bunkysdad said he'd like to have another gun. big surprise. Anyway I do have a wonderful CZ52 that fires this round and I can vouch for the fact that it is a hot round. It really is a fun cartridge, it just isnt always easy to find the surplus. It kind of comes and goes on the market. If you like handguns, milsurps, and shooting I think you would like these guns. For just over 200.00 they are a pretty good deal. The CZ52 is a harder pistol to find a deal on than it once was.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again Chuck ( LC44 ) for the nice grips you sent me for my CZ52. They dress it up and also gives me something solid to hang on to!

There are polish versions and also yugo versions and i have a yugo and it has a factory saftey and i love it. I also have a cz 52 and that is one of my favorites for sure. The yugo is no slouch though. I would advise buying one of each starting with the pole as they don't come around as much as the other 2. Then there are the CZ 52's i see are available in unissued or used condition on the czechpoint website. :D :D

I was very disappointed when I learned of the good old days when the CZ52's were cheap on the surplus market and I missed it. Then I ran into a guy at a gun show that had just found one for about 200 bucks and that got me busy hunting. I looked all through the show but didn't see a single CZ52 for sale. I just figured that I missed the boat. Then out if the blue my brother got one at the pawn shop and sold it to me for 140.00 out the door. He didn't know I was wanting one but held it for me because he thought it liked like something I might like. When I saw it I was ecstatic as I reached for my cash.

I searched high and low for one. Found many over $200 and passed and then got lucky one day the store had one for $300 and one for $200 that had just been put out. I jumped on the cheaper one. Love it. :D

I've got the Yugo version and it appears to be good. It's not "tested" either. Great price tho. I was going to buy a Romanian one, but started reading about the safetys and I'm still thinking it over. I gotta get out and heat up some of these barrels soon.

Wow...that czechpoint is a great site! Thanks for the tip. They have unissued CZ 52's listed for $300. I am not familiar with the CZ 52 and will have to do some comparrison reading. Is the CZ 52 considered a better weapon than the Romanian Tokarev?

That depends...I like my CZ 52 alot and it is usualy the one that gets most of the attention from the guys i take shooting. It has a different operating system than the toks. It has roller cams. My yugo tok was the first Milsurp pistol i bought and i love it. I would not neccessarily say better or worse just different. I think if you could get the unissued one that would be the better buy. I read up on the CZ but it was a long time ago but there is a lot of info out there. There is also new and surplus parts for the CZ. Some people say it will take a stronger load then the toks but this is not proven to my knowledge. You will love it i think. It is a little heavy but not too musch more than the tok, but it feels like a tank in the hand, but a good fitting tank. Good luck with your decision. My choice now kjnowing what i know would be the CZ first and then a polish tok. The yugo tok has a different mag then the rest and holds 9 the others hold 8. I have heard of troubles with the add on safety of the romainian but the guys hear say it is no problem and that would be good enough for me to give it a try. :D :D

I bought Chuck's off of him, great gun... not the best to carry everyday, but awesome for some range time. Possible ammo shortages aside (probably something to do with the Fed's not fancying the idea of a 5 cent round that goes through body armor like a hot knife through butter, but it's still cheaper than most other rounds.

Disassembly is a breeze, especially compared to a 1911. 50 tiny parts? Forget about it, the TTC has 3. Well, maybe 5... you get the point. It's got a nice balance too, none of that web of your hand pinching or rough recoil from a tiny gun syndrome. Shooting, I'd say it's very similar to a 1911 in both recoil and weight. TTC's also fit 1911 holsters nicely.

As for the safety, don't rely on it... but on the whole it seems to work (I've heard this depends on the importer). On mine, they didn't cut a notch out of the grips, but rather flipped the grip around so the lanyard notch is where the safety is. It works, and looks nicer than a second notch cut, although makes it just a TAD more difficult to press the mag release button as the grip is farther forward than it is supposed to be. The safety has worked me for on numerous tests, but twice it's failed. Overall I still abide by the safety, but always be extra cautious just as a precaution.
