Ok, I can almost pull off a JYD with this :chuckles: :chuckles:

I got a call this week from my father who was service manager, now retired, for a local office equipment dealer, Cannon, IBM etc. He told me to bring my M1 Carbines over, as he had something special. He had a Underwood Type 6 typewriter :big shock: It's roughly the same circa as my Underwood M1 Carbine, the Carbine is barrel dated 11-43, he estimates the typewriter is a prewar or possibly the very beginning of World War 2 model. The first models according to him had glass key buttons, later models use matte type buttons and share the same mechanism as the Champion model. The Champion model made Underwood victor in 26 World's Typewriter Championships in the 27 years of competition. The Underwood typewriter needs some TLC, but all the keys work, and even the bell still dings, and in good working condition command a fairly hefty price tag.

Well, I now officially own two Underwoods

 Don't know about mightier, but definitely heavier, the typewriter weighs around 20 pounds.

I have typed at least 500 letters on that typewriter, my typewriter, they built them to last back then :)

I have a 1912 (I think... have to look when I pull down the pallet at work) folding corona. It folds up nice in the case and was supposedly used during WW1 out in the field. I'll have to get some pics of it. I actually have 6 or 7 pre 50's typewriters packed up that use to be display pieces at work.

I meant "groups" more as a joke (how tight is your typewriter?)

Despite hundreds of letter just by me alone it's in very good condition, nothing loose. They built to last back then, not bad for three bucks at a tag sale 20 years ago :)
