I ordered one last week from SOG Inc. It arrived a couple of days ago & am hoping to get it cleaned & post some pics this evening. From what I've seen early on ...it's a nice one!
BTW they're a bit higher in price $330 + shipping.
Good huntin' hope you find a good one!

I recently bought two from Classic. Both are Sino-Soviets with one all matching and the other with a few mismatches. Stocks are a little roughed up but no cracks. People were also getting Russian SKS's in the mix. I have yet to find a better deal on a milled SKS for that price. If you search my name, I posted some pictures of them in the SKS section.

Just my

, as of lately, prices are dropping on SKS's, compared to the last few months. A regular refurb true blue Russian with a laminate stock sold on Gunbroker last month for $319, the Romanian SKS I got at the beginning of last month I paid 300 for, and it included the rare Romanian sling. Prices are coming down slowly pretty much across the board on all the models, so that would open the door to other than the Chinese models. I'd say set a price you wanna pay, and when you see one that speaks to you, in your price range, snag it. Just keep a sharp eye out and be patient, you could stumble on to a '54 Izhevsk or a no date Albanian for a killer price.
I won't get into the whole country X SKS is better than country Y SKS between the big five makers, I have and like them all.

The design is fairly simple and very robust, and any SKS in stock form made by any one of the big 5 will do it's job as intended.

I have a Chinese type 56 and as far as accuracy, dependability and Quality you cant ask for more.
I have never owned any other types. But I am totally happy with the one I have.

Thought I had one, at least that is what the guy said. Pics were of a 1953 refurbed Tula with "1959" stamped to the right of the serial number.
"It's a russian rifle that must have been laned to the Romanians". He had no backing to the story. Just a refurb Tula with a weird extra marking with no legit explanation.
The hunt is still on. I do have good reason to believe Century Arms imported the Romanians here back in the day. Haven't found any import history for the Albanian though. Nor any commercial importer for the German, Korean or Vietnamese versions.

I have a Norinco (Chinese) ... and have had it for 27 years. Just keep it clean and you shouldn't have any problems.

Maybe it's just me, but the newer released Sino Sov/Chinese SKSs are a bit rough for me. I have a Yugo (my first centerfire rifle), had a Russian, had a Norinco 20", have a Paratrooper Norinco 16". They are all about the same. The Yugos have really nice machining. The Paratrooper is just a pretty handy, usable rifle. Get any SKS that looks nice and well maintained and it should serve you well.

Right now I have seen Chinese SKS's offered by Alans Armory, SOG (where I got mine) and J&G (way overpriced) There are still some Yugo's around.

Based on what I've seen, the ones with the I.O. Import vs. Century import stamp seem to be in slightly better condition. Just keep in mind, there are some rough ones out there also, plus it seems the odds of possibly getting a Russian with a Chinese receiver cover are slightly better than than a Century import. But, there again, it's all luck of the draw, unless you can hands on inspect it prior to purchase.
Any particular model should be fine. And if there is an issue, replacement/spare parts are not hard to find, most parts are interchangeable.
The weakness of the Yugoslavian M59/66 series is the gas shut off valve for the grenade launcher. Easy enough to fix, but can be a pain when it flakes out. Excessive gas leakage around the valve can cause FTE, random stove pipes etc. But, on the flip side, any of SKS can suffer that issue based on the gas system, just seems the Yugoslavian is typically a little more prone to it. Mine currently has a replacement valve.

Out of all of mine I like my Unrefurbished Russian with laminated stock the best. It's thinner and feels lighter to me. I would love to stumble across an East German some day. May be I could get someone to trade one for an Albanian and Romanian

I bought both the Sino Sov/Chinese and an Albanian when his recent batch first hit the streets. Both are all matching. I haven't taken them to the range as yet but will do soon. I have an Romanian and a Yugo too.

Classic and I have had our issues, but the rifles I got from them were OK , first it was the carelessness in packing two rifles to me in the same box with a bit of loose paper between them, hanging out of the box and scratched when I got them. Excuse was it's the FNG down in shipping's fault, never of course the SFC who should have been supervising. Then the chroming milsurps crap, that did it.
