1916 Tula Peter the Great

Post by neal45 »

The actual arsenal mark commonly called "Peter the Great" or often abbreviated PTG is translated as:
Tula
Emperor
Peter the Great
Ordinance Factory

This marking was used from 1912-1918 to honor the establishment of the Tula arsenal by Peter the Great in 1712.

This 1916 Mosin is a good example. It features the (partial) Austrian WWF (Wiener Waffen Fabrik) capture mark and Finn SA and D markings. The barrel is fitted to a 1894 Izhevsk receiver. Parts from all the Russian arsenals as well as France are represented with a Sestroryetsk trigger and Chatelleralult bolt connector. But the best part of the rifle is the beautifully done arsenal mark.

The stock has a toe splice and Finn sling swivels.
