Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

I haven't decided yet if I will smooth out the machining on the barrel and cylinder then blue or just leave those as is? What do you say? Also haven't decided if I will blacken the brass or leave it. What would you do?

Black powder is a very corrosive substance , I have found that cleaning after shooting will soon take its toll on the Blueing ,so you will be touching the Blue up regularly so the dissuasion is yours on the barrel .
As for the Brass , That will soon get a nice Patina and will look nice all by it's self .

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Worked on the blued metal and it looks and feels a lot better now. Smoothed out all the rough sharp edges. Was going to blue or brown it but the wife saw it and wants it to stay like this. :vconfused: Would just oiling it be ok? Worked the grips again also.ImageImage

Oil will work, but it might still discolor during use from flash rust.

Brass frames have a habit of stretching and getting out-of-time if you shoot it often with full-house loads. Use light loads in it and you'll both be happy for a long time.
