OC Flaming Bomb 42MB

Post by MCR »

I already had one of these lend-lease to Britain rifles, but this one is alot less common for one specific reason. These were US Property marked both on the barrel and receiver, but this is one of 5-6 current known examples with an OC flaming bomb stamp on the receiver instead of the USP roll stamp. Latest thoughts are that some early serialized rifles had a receiver without the USP so the gov marked them accordingly. The first 2000 were not USP marked at all and are hard to spot, and the serialized rifles started at # 2,001.... this rifles serial is 3,8##

This rifle and my hard work finally lead to it being legitimately recognized by the National Mossberg Collectors Association in their winter 2012-2013 newsletter. A few Mossberg "experts" that originaly claimed it to be fake were proven wrong and one of their names is shown here in the full page spread of the news letter. The bottom rifle in the article is my rifle.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
