1895 Sestroryetsk Finn M91

Post by catcracker »

I hope I got the Subject right. I found an ad online the other day with about 4 pics, and almost no description of the rifle. But there was one pic that did help me, and that was the Arsonal stamp. I pretty much jumped on this without much real information. And I'm not real sure the guy selling it really knew what he had anyway. I was thinking I really found a hidden treasure. But after finding some faults, I may have broke even, or even overpaid slightly. I still really love this rifle. So whatever its worth, its all good to me. I would really apprciate any info you all can tell me about this rifle through these pics I am posting. I will try to make a comment on each pic, so you can tell what to look for in the pic. Maybe let me know what is a good price for it as well.

Thanks

EDIT: 20 June 2013 After the great response to this posting, (http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.c ... =5&t=11691) I realized that the faults I pointed out were not very significant. I was excited to see some forum members suggest this be put in the showcase. My collection and budget are very small. And I doubt I will ever have a showcase quality rifle again. So this entry is a very big deal for me. Thanks again for the kind words. I will treasure this Mosin Nagant as long as I live. :D

This is the pic that got me excited. And sold me as well.

Fault number 1. Broken screw on small handguard band. But the large band does have the Sestroryetsk mark. (I think)

Image
Looks like an A on the magazine. ??

Image
Nice Finland Arms depot mark. This stock was made with 2 pieces of wood at the butt end. Fault #2. There is a crack starting at the buttplate screw, moving horizontally towards the front. You can see it in the pic.

Image
You can see the splice and crack better in this pic. Fault #3 missing both swivels.

Image
Nice clean stamp.

Image
SA markings.
No import markings. I looked!

Image
Meters. Other side crossed out. Lost pic of that.

Image
Star on trigger on this side. R in circle on the other side.??

Image
R in circle on this side.??

Image
R7 on receiver. What is that? No import mark. (not on barrel near front either.)

Image
Receiver tang. Sweet Pic. Its a match. Yahoo

Image
Tula Hammer extractor I think.

Image
Arsenal mark.

Image
Can't really make these markings out.

Image
In the white cleaning rod.

Image
Oh, here is the other side.

And finally, here it is, all back together.

I must really like this one. I got my RGuns Sniper delivered the same day after I got this one. And I posted this one first. :chuckles:
