M/28-30 Range results
Just bought this rifle a few weeks ago. Got her out to the 200 yard range Saturday. All shots fired from the bench with front and rear rests. The target is a standard SR 200 yard target. The X ring is 3 inches, 10 ring is 7 inches and the 9 ring 13 inches. The Bullet of choice is the Lapua D 46 185gr FMJBT.

Nice shooting! Those are pricey projectiles I think, but seem worth the money with these results!

Wow! Those rifles have a well deserved reputation, as long as guy behind the sights knows what he's doing! Great job!

Re: M/28-30 Range results
Funny thing is that I had to cook up the loads the day prior at a 109 yard (100 m) target. The toughest part was then calculating the proper POI at that range so the rear elevation increments would match when firing at a given distance. When I took the rifle to the 200 yard (218 m) range I set the rear elevation on 2 (200 m), fired the first shoot and it was in the 10 ring. I continued to shoot 10 and X rings. I couldn't have been more pleased. My math payed off. Typically it is diffucult to match up the elevation scale on the M39's and M/28-30's. I did notice that when the barrel gets hot the POI rises quite a bit. At one point I had to drop the elevation down to 1,5 to hit the 10 rings which I think more than normal. Never had that much change in any of my M39's as far aas I can remember. If any, it was only a slight change. Either way I am definatley pleased.Rups63 wrote:Wow! I did have a VMBAR CMP Match double header following the zeroing in with the target shown above. My M/28-30 place 3rd and 5th for silver and bronze. Next weekend I will be at Camp Butner for the Eastern CMP Games Vintage Military Matches.
Gold is the goal!!!
