I am honored to present...

my newest and most prized Finnish rifle. I purchased it locally from a member on the CMP forums. It was up for trade but I made the attempt to outright purchase it if he was so willing and he was. We met and I looked it over to be sure before cash was handed out and I was happy with the deal. It is a 1932 M28/30 first year production. No date barrel with thin SK.Y arsenal mark. I have to dig into the details again but this is a type 2 model. The metal is in outstanding shape. 100% blue. Not a scratch, burr or dent on it. The bore is imaculate and measures exactly 0.3082 after two chamber casts. Matter of fact, I think the tooling marks are still present within the bore. The Finns must have done one heck of a rearsenal on this one or it was just simply never used which is hard to believe. The stock is two piece with a Russian rear. The stock is not matching ('39) but has a very nice Suojeluskuntain Yliesikunta (Civil Guard) acceptance stamp. There is a Civil Guard stamp on the underside of the stock wrist too in miniture. There is no "slack spring" on the trigger which must have been lost. I have noticed that several M28/30 stocks have the pillard action screws. This one does not. There are however three layers of thick shims on the front action and a thin one on the rear. This rifle was made close to the end of the first production order of 2700 units. Within the last 700.
Took it out this afternoon to shoot it. I loaded bullets from pulled 200 gr. Russian Match dated 1971. Loaded it into Lapua cases with Varget and used the D166 data from VV's accuracy load. This M28/30 nailed it at 109 yds. All touching just at 1 inch.
All in all I am very pleased and honored to have it in my meager collection. All I need now is a correct 2 piece SK.Y marked sling and a bayonet!!
Enjoy the pictures!!!
