Mosin from AIM - 1944 model - what is it?

Post by treytexag »

Bought this on an impulse buy a few weeks back from AIM - 129 bucks. Don't know a thing about it other than it appears to be made in 1944, and seems like it has the chicken head thing on it.

All the serial numbers on it seem to match. It seems pretty cool that it was built during WW2. Anyway, I'm a noob for sure, like my AR's and pistola's, but new to milsurp.

Can y'all tell me more about this gun?

It appears to be a 1944 Izhevsk 91/30 in a war time stock imported by PW Arms. Looks clean.

Welcome! That chicken head thing it's the Soviet crest. Your rifle is a mosin nagant 9130 war time production rifle made in the Izhevsk arsenal. It is a high wall round receiver. It is chambered for the 762x54r rimmed cartridge.
Beautiful rifle sir.

Already typed it so I'll send out..what he said gee

You guys rock - thank you very much for the info. I'm going to begin researching these Mosin's and learning a bit about them, since I now own one. Now that the weather is warming up, I'll need to go shoot it too - I'm looking forward to that!

Thanks again gents.

I was wondering about the "Chicken Head" mark until I took a look at his photo with an open mind :D
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Wecome to the forum. Nice rifle. Now, your comment: "You guys rock - thank you very much for the info. I'm going to begin researchingthese Mosin's and learning a bit about them".

For some reason, this activity often results in the creation of a rare virus called Mosinitis, of which, there is no known cure. I think, however, just the thought of research and having purchased one rifle already has set this malady into motion. Good luck, this disease can be terminal if not held in check.

:alien: :welcome2: :happy small: Welcome to the forum!! I was kinda the same. Bought a 1943 Izhevsk 91/30 cause it looked neat and was only $114, back then!! Thought it was a good price for a rifle!! Then checked out all the info here and other websites and then got REALLY excited about what I bought!! Make sure you check the Headspace and the firing pin depth and then Blast away till your shoulder hurts!! :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

OK, interesting you mention this. Now that I've found all this info here - already caught myself "prowling" around for another Mosin - and I haven't even shot the one I bought yet!! So it's called Mosinitis? . . . . Dad gum, you can catch it quick can't you?
