I took some new pictures of my '48 M44, would like to submit for consideration for the showcase - lots of nice stuff in there!
Discussion Section
1948 Izhevsk M44, original and matching, not re-arsenaled. In addition to the Soviet cartouches on the stock it has what appears to me a Romanian stamp near the buttplate, a circle 23, perhaps transferred there from the Soviet Union. Wherever it served, it was handled a lot and has a well worn stock and bluing, but was seemingly never fired. Bore is mirror bright, and I pulled as-new rifle patches through it before I fired it. A decent amount of wear on the safety catch as can be seen in the photo, perhaps locked and loaded but never used, possibly for a guard or patrol type of role.
