As an owner of a single shot Remington Japanese Trainer, I watched this one with interest. Also threw in a couple of bids, in vain.

The seller's description of its origin was way off the mark. It likely came from the US Expeditionary forces in Vladivostok, instead. Nonetheless, it looked like a very legit relic. And one buyer will have a very rare Mosin Nagant variant to add to his collection.
For an in depth look into the history, here is a link to one of our early Showcase items.

Ah the forever indelible image of the grey blanket strikes again! I have seen one of these in the wild and was dumb enough to not spend the $400 asked for it. I bought something more solid in my mind for less.

I figured it would go around that price. Best bet is to find one in the wild.

How does this seller manage to have something rare to sell every week?

He's had rare rifles to sell every week for years... He either has a network of folks scouring the earth for rifles or he invested some heavy money years back and has been sitting on them. I bought a rifle from him a few years back . Was a good enough guy to deal with . It was one of the times when he didn't get crazy money or I wouldn't have bid....

I have had a chance to e- chat with the fellow and he certainly is a very nice guy and very easy to deal with. I would not hesitate to bid (at least for me) on anything he has. If you have any questions he will answer right away.

I've only seen two and one of them is yours (which by the way is much nicer than that one)!

He bought out a well established older dealer about 15 years ago right up by you Jim and I wonder if the rifles he has lately are still coming from that haul? He told me at the time it was a couple of loaded to the gills van trips to empty the place. I had bought a couple of times from the older gent and after that his son and he had some great prices and nice stuff which went back in date. M39's were about $100 back then from him and he had a bunch of great ones. He was, the grey blanket man, and is a nice guy in my eyes and we have done business in the long ago past. Bill

Some of this stuff is older all right, like a couple of Turk Mauser's I got from him, 90's stuff. With the volume he has been selling over the last year alone it would fill more than a couple of vans .

Man, to be able to go back in time, buy a stash & sit on it. That's the life.
