That darn cat...love her to death but.............
Well, I haven't bought a Mosin since December, so I figured it was time. Been hunting for a good one for a while. My budget was limited, but enough to get a good one. First I found a nice 28/30 that was pricey, but I could swing it. Ooops, cat isn't looking well, wife's gotta take her to the vet. Anal gland draining, etc, shots, urinary tract food= $250. Then the neighborhood association dues bill came- $350. OK, forget the 28/30. Next day I was lucky enough to pop onto Pat's sight 10 minutes after she loaded the new batch- there it is, the SK.Y M39- $389, perfect. Wait, cat has blood in litter box, don't push any buttons, back to the vet. Ah shit, urinary tract infection, anti biotics, shots, etc. Another $150. Wait a week, might have to go back again. So, I say heck with it, the SK.Y is meant to be- pop back on, SOLD. Rather have the cat I guess.................................

Re: That darn cat...love her to death but.............
My cats never get sick, they just vanish without explanation and I later find the bits the coyote, or 'coon didn't like. The yard is full of surprisingly healthy cats this year, the wild ones tend to be sickly, but not this year, all have grown up and look tough and mean like the little killers they are, we had a good crop of kittens this year, I was able to find and get adopted almost half of them, the rest are now part of the crew of heavy hitters we keep to deal with the mouse problem. My shop cat takes apart a mouse every couple of days, I guess he still hasn't figured out what makes them work

Yep. She is a pure bred Siamese that we rescued pregnant roaming the street. We have her and 2 of her babies. Wife is big time into animals. Cat is 10. I figure I've got a few grand invested, one surgery, various medical probs. She's just like a dog. Knows her name, comes when you call , etc. Guess the Mosin can wait a bit. Or I could tell my neighborhood association to shove the $350 annual fee for a lake I never use...........................................

Re: That darn cat...love her to death but.............
I like cats, just my dogs never did. In our home its my wife and I first and the dog comes a VERY close second (American Bull Dog mix)......especially over ALL of my wife's family. I have no relatives so the dog doesn;t have any compitition but if I did......he'd come first and the humans a distant second

Like cats but my 3 dogs hate them so unfortunately I cannot keep a cat.

Re: That darn cat...love her to death but.............
Been married over 38 years now. Lost my cat about 4 months ago. It is the first time sinse we have been married that we didn't have a cat in the house.
Tigger, he used to keep an eye on my collection for me. He was almost 16 years old here.

My wife wanted to try a dog (seeing the cats all took to me!) (of coarse they did, I fed them!)
So we adopted a 11 year old (no one wanted him and he was under death sentance)
Herman! He's cool. And he has his own Facebook page........I didn't even know he could type!

Those who would on purpose cause harm to animals (not hunting, I am a deer and coyote hunter) are in the same category as child molesters in my book.
I would act to "correct" the person who did such a cowardly thing and I knew my facts to be correct.
I had a farmer shoot one of my dogs when I was about 11 or 12. I later took a shot at him with my old Western Auto .22 (pinged his tractor). My father was NOT pleased. The farmer NEVER ever bothered me or our pets again. Worked for me.....of course that was then (late 50's and folks tended to take care of things themselves)
..........VERY sorry about your cat. Too many assholes walking around, who could use a good cleaning out in this country........

Went home for lunch(barely, in the snow storm). Lulu is doing fine. Karma is coming my way. Sold a pickup truck at the dealership and picked up an insurance appraisal for a '57 and a total loss evaluation for 2 Harleys. Now I have to wait for Pat to reload, Empire to send an email, and watch GB. Back on the hunt......................

Had my black cat Dumpster Diver aka "Diver" 14 yrs.She has cost me more than the price of one good MN over the years but my wife really loves her . She 's the toughest cat in the neighborhood and my two 90 lb. dogs give her plenty of room.

Yep. I love dogs but cats are more for the wife & kids. Kids are now grown & out & the cats are getting very Senior Citizen as of late. A few more years at best & I don't think we will replace them. But they have been great companions.redeuce wrote:See, we can be firearms enthusiasts and animal lovers too..............................
Things I swear by is to spay & Neuter them & for cats I refuse to declaw them. Although I've lost some furniture & all the grilles on my speakers are toast.

Dang I had to look twice at your now gone cat and then turn around an make sure my Tyger was still on his computer chair next to me. He is a dead ringer for your cat. I got Tyger and 6 or 7 months ago when his human mom died and left him and his 2 sisters for adoption. He was 18 and 1/2 pounds and a regular eating machine. He has been front claw declawed of which I am glad because he still thinks and uses the bed or anything handy to exercise his missing claws and he is fixed. I have pared his weight down about 14 and 1/2 pounds and he now runs and plays like a kitten at times. He got chrystals in his bladder and I almost lost him a couple of months ago and he now eats a special diet which costs about $67 for two cases and gets fed once a day at 7:15 AM or he will drive me nuts otherwise. He snores with a whistling sound that makes me laugh everytime I hear him, which is often. He is totally incapable of catching mice and is actually sort of scared of them now as one had a stand off with him in the bathroom and finally charged and he retreated to the bed with me burrowing under the covers. He has blue inner ears with pollups growing out of them looks absolutely wierd although since I have had him the pollups are starting to go away I think. The vet has sent biopsys of them to Harrisburg, Pa and Penn States Veternary Hospital and they have no idea what they are. They are not cancerous so I guess he will have them around for his life because the Vet said if he took them out he would have no ears and I think he kind of likes his ears. He lost all his early life and doesn't want that to happen again I guess so he follows me everywhere. I wouldn't trade him for much else in the world and I do my best to be a good member of his support staff. Other than the blue inner ears which are fading away right now I have a dead ringer for your cat living here. Bill

We are feeding and vet-ing four cats. They are all wild as hell as far as I am concened, but my wife can handle two of them. I have more money in them then an SVT-40..to date. Two of them are hunters, two are lazy. I will say that the mouse population has disappeared in the neighborhood. They are all fixed, so there won't be any more from this bunch.

Five years ago we had a litter of ferel kittens and their VERY agressive mother in our garage. Meanest SOB's I ever saw. FINALLY I got them live trapped and adopted out.......killers each and every one of them. Our American Bulldog mix was even wary of the mother.........personally I thought she carried a handgun.

Wife has a male cat that got urinary tract infections every year until a old boy down the road told her to feed the cat canned food only low in protein(Never Dry) with water mixed in it and three times a week put a couple of drops of cider vinegar in the food apparently cider vinegar dissolves the crystals that plugs their pecker and the water in their food keeps the plumbing working. "Charley" hasn't had a pee problem in 3 years.redeuce wrote:Well, I haven't bought a Mosin since December, so I figured it was time. Been hunting for a good one for a while. Tiger, aged around two, dumped off last summer, he has some maine coon in him, big cat, 14 pounds and can reach all the way to the counter top when standing on his hind legs.

Little Buddy and big buddy, both stolen from the shop, I later found out by who, they live in the lap of luxury in a Westchester County mansion

Max, he is bigger now, one of last summers wild kittens who is getting more friendly

Boots, so names because he likes to rub around my boots in the morning tripping me up.

Bucky the shop cat, don't f*** with him.

KOOL Pets. I love my little dog to death and he is my constant companion every where i go. If i go to the garage he is right there to see what we are doing next. Take the garbage out, he has to help with that too.
