Well today I was house bound with a sick wife, so I took the plunge and loaded 20 rounds of 190 grain cast bullet I cast myself this fall (thanks for the lead JYD). I seated gas checks and lubed them with a green parafyn based lube then loaded them over 18 grains of 2400 powder per the Lyman book (data was for a 208 grain bullet). When I next get out to the range I'll try them at 25 yards and then if I am happy I'll move over to the 100 yard range to try a few. I will report the results if I have any good ones that is.

Look forward to seeing your results, which bullet mold are you using? I've had excellent results using the Lee .312 dia. TL cast bullet I shoot in my SKS rifles,it was a nice surprise to find they shot so well in my Mosin.

The Lee mold I am using is a .312 Diameter 185 grain gas check design. With lube and the gas check installed they weight just under 200 grains. The other is a commercial 208 grain bullet sized to .312 and a bore rider design. We will see how they fly soon.

I have had great results using my 200 grain bullets cast with a Lyman 314299 mold. The bullets drop at just over .314" diameter and can be sized to fit most Mosin Nagants well.

I use 10.0 to 11.0 grains of unique over Remington #9-1/2 primers. I used a .314" diameter bullet with 11.0 grains of Unique in my recently purchased 91-30 that slugged .313" and it shot 1/2" to 1.00" groups at fifty yards.
