If so, then I want all our Mosins with 20 round magazines, not 10, as that would be a waste of money...... :chuckles: :chuckles:

I've seen these before on that guys youtube page and although it does look cool. 5 rounds is more than enough. I would never mod, even if refurbished and never seen combat, a MN 91/30

Essentially it's a whole assembly. I first saw the thing on the web some time back looking at his Steam Punk computer stuff. Check this out http://www.datamancer.net/keyboards/keyboards.htm

But the idea behind the mag extender is that you simply open the floor plate and unclip the existing spring removing the existing spring and follower. Takes all of a few seconds to do since I take mine out to clean up regularly. Then you clip in the replacement device instead, and it's got it's own follower and spring assembly inside. Close the door and it's ready to hold 10 instead of 5 rounds. Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to install or remove.

I don't know the target price, but I cannot imagine you could fabricate and sell them for only $50. You would need a production run of several thousand to get the economy of scale, and then who the devil would buy them? If you only made a few hundred they'd cost more than the rifle.
There are millions of Mosins floating around. If you sold just one per 100 Mosins you get 10,000 sales per million Mosins. I don't think there would be any problem selling enough to make production worthwhile. The price does need to be low because putting an expensive accessory on an inexpensive rifle does cause one to stop and consider.

except on sks boards, those guys spend $250-$300 in plastic parts and optics which summed up is a $250 gun plus $300 worth of crap equals $550 and the ultimate value after mods is $100 :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

I doubt you could sell one per hundred extant rifles. Maybe one per five hundred.

But it really depends on price point. If they're $100 ea then almost no one would do it. If they were five bucks almost everyone would at least give them a try because the downside is negligible.

Somewhere in the middle is the miniscus where the curve turns. If that point is greater than the miniscus of the curve for volume vs manufacturing costs, then the product is a guaranteed money looser.

If the curves work out then it might be a viable product if marketed correctly.

If they are more than $39.99 then they are too much in my opinion.

:D Just coming from my BIG5 store with good news I have to read this :vsad:

They have a scoped .30/06 Savage for under $ 400 minus good buyer discount (5%) good for a pack of ammo.

Now take a $99 Mosin plus black stock $65 plus scope mount $65 plus scope (pistol long eye relief) $ 99 . And then add an unnecessary 10 round magazine for $39.99 plus shipping (not put into the equation for stock, mount and scope) and you end up with plus $ 450 to suffice your ego on making this history Mosin gun a less comparable shooter. :beek: :?: :?: :?:

Something is wrong here .......and I ask again, why something like  would be attempted by anyone.

If you don't want to shoot the Mosin as it was produced and worked with, don't buy it, don't collect it and put a Savage on layaway.

I do not even consider the idea of a 10 round mag feasable with history, or it would exist in a proven way....a Mosin is no Enfield and does not have to be bettered up to reach the same mag size level, as the shooting speed cannot be advanced to Enfield level.

It is good as it is, the accuracy depends 90% on the shooter. Take 1000 rounds per person here (6) as testimony. We do not have scopes, just a spotter with a scope. Open sights only! And once dialed in, our Mosins are as accurate as we like them to be. Takes time and ammo, but that will get you where you want to go. If I do this kind of target shooting (or hunting) , why would I want to have a magazine that does not let me bench shoot without making bigger bags or is in the way when setting up a quick shot at hunting :?:

When I need to be accurate I have that Savage in the closet ready to go. Scoped, Harris bipod, pillared and bedded composite stock, magnaported barrel, I bought it for $250 lightly used.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

That's my "THE BOSS", thanks , JYD. :D
I thought all the dilly-dally has nothing to do with our refurbs. They are what they are, and they are fun.
Upping them into snipers by converting is missing the point.
You could find a real sniper, good for you, you want to make this piece of history into an expensive huntig gun, go ahead, but you are changing history in a very expensive way.
In 50 years a normal 9130 in very good condition will sell higher than a modernized version, I bet. It's just a pity I will not be able to see it happen........:D

but you are missing the point, by using a Mosin as a base and bolting on a bunch of airsoft tactical stuff..... you just made a $100 rifle into a $500 rifle that shoots like a $60 rifle and has resale value of $80. Which I assume is awesome by the amount of dildos that do it :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

I'd be interested to see how these turn out. I don't object to anything non permanent that ads fun to our rifles. I had a trashed trigger guard/magazine in my Val thread, I had considered trying to make high capacity since it was otherwise worthless. Sometimes the fun is just seeing if it "can" be done. Since it's non permanent, I wouldn't mind trying one. What the heck.

I don't get it. We don't even know if these are going to be produced, nobody likes the idea, it has no real use or function, dumb idea to begin with. Yet this thread refuses to die. :vconfused: :vconfused: :vconfused:
