My first black powder rifle!

If it fires black powder, it is discussed here.

We just dropped by another local shop. Didn't have any loose powder. Just 150gr pellets. On the plus side though they had one box of .490 round ball that I grabbed :D

Get a bullet mold , some scrap lead, and cast your own . Lee molds are available for this size.

I will eventually. This is to get me started. Then I'll have to save up the cash to get me some casting stuff. That stuff would come in handy for casting my own bullets for reloading too :).

A dipper, iron pot, camp stove and mold, add some scrap lead and you are in business.

The other stuff is pretty easily found but the lead might be tougher to find around here.

That would be awesome! Thanks! I'm eyeing the lyman casting starter kit. Comes with the electric pot 10lbs capacity, the dipper, ingot mold, and starter guide for around $75. Not a bad deal I think.

I sewed up some draw string pouches for each caliber of balls. It is marked with sewed thread on each one. They work great and were free. :D

I have all my BP stuff in a heavy green canvas military "map bag" that I carried for years in the Guards, has little pouches in the front that originally held pens and such, now has my breech plug wrench, short starter and capper in them. The main section has my boolits, powder flask, measure, cleaning patches soaked in windex, dry patches, bore butter and a few other things necessary.

Thats not a bad idea. There are tons of surplus pouches available. Even a mag pouch might work pretty well. Thanks

Make it a big one, it's amazing how much stuff you accumulate once you get started! And just a few lead balls can really weight it down, lol!

Haha don't I know it. This 100 pack of round ball weights alot more than you would think.

Try 100 .75 musket balls, like carrying around a bag of grape shot.

Or get two bags. One for each side, and put 50 in each. So you stay balanced :D
