Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
I’m Son, Army veteran, my first Mosin was a gift from my grandpa on my 5th birthday. It’s been in the back of the gun safe for some 29 years. My dad recently asked me the year of it and I’ve gone deep diving and now I’m here. I think I’ve come across a rare bird. I’m going to take time to take some quality pictures and make a separate post, but she’s a New England, got the Deutsche Reich stamp on the stock, SA, and several other things I’ve managed to track down via reading through this forum.
I look forward to learning more with y’all here.
Cheers!

Hello to my fellow Mosin friends. After posting my intitial intro, I wanted to relay a story about my family interactions with Mosins. My grandfather, Simeon was a high ranking official in Czar Nicholas II's White army. He was sent to the New England Westinghouse manufacturing plant in Meriden, Ct to oversee and inspect the production of the American made Mosins. New England and Remington had been given the contracts for the production , which as far as I know are the only ones made here in the States. As the production was taking place , the Russian czar was overthrown and the Czar and his family and those associated with them were executed by the Communist overthrowers. My grandfather never returned to Russia and died from TB a few years later. I was able to locate and buy a New England 91/30 Mosin and have been excited to add to the accessories. Hope to hook up with anyone else that may have similar connections. I actually have a newspaper article that describes Simeon when he first arrived in Meriden. Cool stuff, so glad to find this great forum.

New member from Michigan here! I fell in love with mosins a couple of years ago. I bought a type 53 cheap at a local gun shop, it was over. I had to get a Russian one after that, then 4 more lol. It's nice to find a place to "hang out" and share the love for the mosin!
Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
New member here from New England. I collect a variety of milsurps but the Mosin is my primary focus. I hope to gain some knowledge and participate in some discussions here!
Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
New member here, looking to dive into the world of collecting some old Milsurps. Purchased my first mosin the other day, a 1943 Finnish tikka m91. I can’t wait to jump in and learn more about it here!

Hey All,
I have owned 2 Mosins in my time and went in on one that kind of made little sense to me. Part numbers mismatched, stock wrong for the receiver, and over all confusing indications. It told me that I needed to buy it. The reason for joining is to get help in piecing together what I see. I have (R) marks, SA B D, VKT, etc. Could be a remington 1918 stock taken over by a Finnish 1942 receiver... Anyway, here are the pictures.
Thanks for having me and helping me piece this together. I will add more picture in the replies if you need it. 12 is the max attachments for this.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Hey all, first post for this new member, I have had a long long love/hate thing with the mighty Mosin, from the time my Dad bought me one back in 1966 in Ashland KY, I think I was 9 or so, since then, I have bought and sold over 4 doz, and im down to just one now, its a 1934 91/30, I saw it at a local pawn shop here in Seattle on sale for 135, i bought her up, the poor thing was in terrible shape, but after a few months and some work, i can now get about 3 inch groups at 300 yards, took 6 big hogs with it back in 2018 down in Texas, i was using the old remington ( now Graft/Son ammo) 154 SST, awesome stuff. Look forward to chatting with fellow lovers of all thing 7.62 x 54R..SEMPER FI

I just bought a Finnish M91 and I have a lot of pics but don't see a way to attach them. I am trying to figure out what I have and would love for you experts to see it but I can't figure out how to show you the pics lol.
This rifle has the octagonal receiver and bears the marks SA, VKT, D, the serial number which begins with 29XXX, 1942. Near the muzzle at the end of the barrel is stamped M91FINLND/7.62x54R and CAI ST A1 RV? It is really hard to make out that last bit but it does look like a question mark at the end.
Let me know what you guys can decipher from all this and would love to post pics if I can figure out how.
Thanks,
Matt

M91FINLND/7.62x54R and CAI ST A1 RV? = M91 Finland 7.62x54r Century Arms International St. Albans Vermont. That is just the import mark.

New here and new to Mosin's. Was looking at a refurbished Tula sniper that had this paperwork with it. I think it's some kind of inspection sheet but since I can't read Russian I'm not sure. Hoping someone here has seen one before and can shed some light on it. If I've posted this in the wrong place Mods please move it to where it should be.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
New here and would like some info on an m28 I just picked up. First it has the two holed ski trooper stock but all the holes have been filled in looks very well done but there are no holes for any other sling attachments or previous holes from missing sling swivels. Is this normal. I get filling in the holes for a stock repare but wouldn't they have attached a new style? And next the rear sight is the old style it does not have the new sight plate with the two screws holding it in place. The rear sight is remarked for meters on the right side with a very faint 2 for 200 meters but no notch cut out like I've seen on others. Just looking for some insight on these issues. It has a sig barrel marked 27 on the bottom and an 1895 tula receiver marked on underside of the tang. I've always wanted a Finnish mosin and couldn't walk away when I found this one.Admins wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2013 4:23 pm Welcome to RMNF

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Hey everyone, I'm new here. And I want to expand my knowledge on my favourite bolt action system hands down. I only currently own two mosins but I'm hoping to expand that soon. My first mosin is a '40 Round receiver Tula for nearly 10 years now, since 2014 as a kid. A Christmas gift from my dad. Now as someone in their 20s, I'm now a massive fan of firearms thanks to that old rifle behind the tree!
