Prices have retreated. The uninofrmed are paying those prices here and there, but now most 91/30 are $250 or less. Many selling under $200.

I can buy round receiver 91/30's all day long for $250 a pop. I don't want one, just saying. If the uneducated buy these then more power to them. Makes mine worth more. I already sold of my pure Russian rifles and now I only have Finns or Finn modified ones. To each his own I guess.

I think anyone locally near me that's selling a Mosin for around $230-300 that's not rusty will sell quick. Cabelas has a rack of rusty round and a couple hex receivers between $279, and $399 and a couple for $429 and I was probably the only one that bought one... I got my 1935 Hex Izhevsk for $349 which I know was high, but I haven't seen one for sale locally for a year, and if I found one online, I would pay almost as much to get one shipped to an FFL and do the transfer, so for me it was still an OK price. Not great though... a small local high-volume gun shop has had 3 Russian Mosins, and one Finn model for sale in the last few weeks, and they never last more than 2 weeks at $299-329 with accessories and bayonet. Cabelas ones don't even have bayonet or any accessories.
It's like SKS here in Mass, I paid $499 for a chinese SKS (Pre ban) 1959 model, mainly because for that price it was the only one I could find with a bayonet on it that wasn't a Yugo model, and at $499 it was the same price as cabelas for a beat up Yugo with no bayonet or sling or anything... I looked in 4 local states for an SKS and nothing was better priced than what I got.

5 years ago they where $189.99 at Cabelas ,I saw a few I liked but most were rough .I did pick up one a few weeks later on sale there for $139 I really lost interest in the refurb 91/30s after they went over 200.I have picked a couple of Finn 91s for less than the price of the refurbs at the time.I feel for the new guys paying these prices .
