Where did you order from?

The Armory online. The shipping was a little long, took three weeks.
I ordered a case from them earlier this year and it only took about 4 or five days. I'm in Louisiana though. They're in Virginia Beach. They're a good place to deal with. I actually called them to ask about some ammo one time and the guy had to hang-up on me. He was real polite about it. I figured something serious was wrong like they were getting robbed or something. Turns out they had a very unhappy customer when I called back. Nice guys though. If you want it faster next time SGAmmo has the same stuff for the same price. I've also ordered a bunch of this from him, actually about two weeks ago. It always comes real fast. Never more than 3 days from Oklahoma to me.

Those empty tins make good containers for spent brass, cleaning supplies, junk, etc.

That is what I need to get next. It gets old paying 10 bucks a box of 20 when you know if you spend a little more up front, it comes out a whole lot cheaper. I noticed on some of the crates of two tins, that it has the 2 in a pyramid. Maybe something to do with the type of ammo???

Part of the markings on the lid of the can of ammo I got have been painted over with silver paint. I've seen numerous other cans with that paint on them too. I wondered who did that and why.

You know I've seen this and wondered about it myself so I asked a friend about it. He's Sam from http://www.SGAmmo.com and he sells a lot of this stuff so he knows. This is what he sent me.

Hi Mike,

"The block of silver paint is a color code, it does not mask or cover anything. this is the code that indicates the LPS type load, (light bullet with steel core), No hidden meaning or excitement here."

A bit of history and knowledge from a guy who has had about every variation of this caliber ever made..........

light lead core has no color code and was discontinued around 1960, production of LPS light ball steel core manufactured after June of 1977 will not have a color code either

Additionally, a yellow stripe implies DGS (heavy bullet lead core),

A silver and yellow stripe implies DPS (heavy bullet steel core)

A red and black stripe implies API

A green stripe implies tracer

ETC ETC ETC

Hope this helps and thanks to Sam for helping out.
