Thanks Rob :)
No place to shoot 500Y around here, but now that I've got the scope mounted securely and figured out which way to turn the windage knob (stories of their own, lol), I'll see what I can do about posting some targets.
The other one I did not find any info on the scope other than it was made in Pittsburgh, PA. It says J. Unertl or something like that.
I'll PM you the link to the GB auction for it, as I seem to remember we aren't allowed to post links to rifles up for sale here :vconfused: And I'll gather up the accessories for a group photo.

And BTW, I took the rear handguard off and the DWG number is correct.

 Thanks for the link, PM sent about that rifle.

If you don't already have them I would suggest getting Scott Duffs M1 Garand books on the WWII Garand (red book) and Post WWII Garands (blue book) and for some great info on both M1903 and M1 Garand sniper rifles, see if you can find a copy of Peter R. Senich's book U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper World War II and Korea. Tons of sniper rifle info on the M1903 and M1 sniper rifles.

That's a tricky scope to get used to, balancing the target on top of the post. You would think the post would at least have a point on it. And it took me FOUR enbloc clips to get where I was happy... sheesh. It usually doesn't take me so long to get dialed in, but after I was shooting pretty much where I aimed (and the barrel was good and hot, lol) I shot this group. The target is 2-1/2" in diameter, so I guess you could say I shot a 2-1/2" group, just a hair right. I'll try to move it over next time out, after it cools down. First I want to see where it is on a cold bore.
And I'll tell you, trying to see the red bull on a shoot-n-c was next to impossible with the black post on a black target, that's why the orange target. Much easier to see

800 meters
100 yds. I need work on my breathing and such. The steadier I try to get the more I notice my heartbeat moving me all over the place  Moreso with a scope than irons, but it's still noticeable.
I'm going to try to go shooting with this benchrest shooter from up here sometime. He asked me for my number last week. I was told that he got another guy shooting the heads off of safety pins at 100 yds.

Heartbeat moving you all over the place is better than no heart beat moving you at all :) There is always a bright side !
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
